Lead Data Strategy and Governance Manager - Compliance

    Calling all data nerds! Passion for data privacy along with creativity to innovate is just what we need for this role. The Lead Data Governance Manager will deliver a data governance strategy and data management system for New Relic.

    The New Relic Data Compliance Team is responsible for organizing our customer data so that it enables New Relic to maintain compliance. We are searching for a highly motivated self-starter with an eye for detail.

    You will have a proven data privacy background and have documented success in working with technical partners through different phases of product development, particularly in the SaaS space.

    In addition to living near our Portland office (reopening in 2022), we are open to candidates who live within driving distance to our Atlanta and San Francisco offices.

    What You’ll Do

    • Support Data Compliance Team in order to establish the highest possible standards for engineering-based data governance frameworks
    • Develop innovative processes to maintain the record of the company’s data flow and impacted compliance regimes with minimal impact on velocity of other organizations, including tooling and automation
    • Ensure compliance with legal and internal policy requirements related to data, including data lifecycle management, user data access and portability, and regionalization of data storage.
    • Work with the Security, Product, Legal and Privacy teams to identify new compliance requirements, understand their impact to New Relic, and build plans to address as appropriate
    • Support organizational-level goals to drive the technical and organizational roadmap for alignment to core data governance and compliance requirements.
    • Capture information and requirements for Product Lifecycle Management. Lead expectations for dataset content and structure; set timeline and follow-up regularly to ensure delivery of all data management achievements.
    • Work with business partners in Product Organization, Legal, Information Technology, Information Security, and other business partners to establish, align and confirm customer data management.
    • Lead/Run project/program planning, executions schedule, risk, and issues. Deliver weekly and monthly status reporting.
    • Lead others in process, system, and tooling improvement
    • Tracking and management of corporate risk acceptance
    • Encourage and grow the Team to match New Relic's rapid growth.

    Your Qualifications


    • 5-8 years of relevant experience
    • Curiosity, positivity, and a desire to work within a culture that values connection, authenticity, and emotional intelligence
    • Experience as a team lead to coordinate and drive process improvement
    • Solid grasp of NIST 800-53 controls, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA/HITRUST, and/or Data Privacy principles
    • Knowledge and experience with cloud security standard methodologies


    • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology
