I write copy and try to right wrongs.
Writing has been a passion and innate gift of mine since I was barely out of diapers. And while I hope the amount of crap I produce has changed, what has remained is a deep love for language and its power to shape both the reality of and our perceptions of the world.
Relationships -- internal, external, cosmic, societal -- endlessly fascinate me, which partially explains my somewhat unorthodox educational background. I received a BA in Communication Studies and Religion from Carson-Newman University and a Master of Divinity from Mercer University's McAfee School of Theology. Not exactly what people expect from a gay/queer man born in rural, Appalachian East Tennessee, but, hey, if that deeply conservative region can produce Dolly Parton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Quentin Tarantino, it can also produce me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Currently, I put that passion to use as a copywriter for a woman-owned, boutique marketing, branding, and storytelling firm called House of Current. Outside of that, though, I have every intention to start a blog -- said every Very Online™️ millennial ever -- and to expand my freelancing profile.
Whether or not I return to diapers one day -- I'll let you know in about 60 or so years.
